While the listed firms remain integral in the country’s economy, their continued performance has been declining over the years. This has seen some of the firms get delisted and others suspended from trading due to subsequent years of loss-making. Customer relationship management on the other hand has been found to be instrumental in determining the performance of modern firms, in the midst of growing competition and dynamic operating environment. The motivation of this study was therefore the limited literature on the relationship between customer relationship management and performance of listed firms. The study utilized a descriptive-exploratory research design, where 240 senior management personnel drawn from the 64 listed firms were surveyed using a structured questionnaire. The data was analysed using SPSS and Amos software for descriptive statistics, regression model and structural equation modelling respectively. The findings revealed that customer relationship management had a significant influence on the performance of firms listed at the NSE (R2 = .265; β = 0.353; P=0.0001<0.05). It was therefore concluded that customer relationship management as a frim-level factor is instrumental in determining the performance of the listed firms at the NSE. The study recommended the need for the management of the listed firms to be at the forefront of pushing for enhanced customer relationship management so as to strengthen the firms performance.
Samuel Ndungu Machiri, Margaret Oloko, John Karanja Ngugi, Romanus Odhiambo Copyright (c) 2024 Samuel Ndungu Machiri, Margaret Oloko, John Karanja Ngugi, Romanus Odhiambo https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 https://journal.aira.or.id/index.php/jistr/article/view/713 Wed, 31 Jan 2024 00:00:00 +0000 Outgoing Letter Approval System at Class I Climatology Stations in North Sumatra Using the Prototype Method https://journal.aira.or.id/index.php/jistr/article/view/719
The mechanism for outgoing correspondence at the North Sumatra Class I Climatology Station is through the approval of the Verifier and Kasklim. The system runs in approving outgoing letters, still going through the traditional process where the Verifier and Kasklim must go through directly in the room. This research aims to develop the intended outgoing letter approval application, to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of outgoing letter approval. This research is development research using the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) approach and the prototype method which refers to data obtained from interviews with several letter operators at the North Sumatra Class I Climatology Station. Based on testing the system using a black box and evaluating the application by the staff concerned, it was concluded that the application was relevant to needs and could be implemented. This study also provides a basis for further research in optimizing similar systems in the context of climatology stations or other fields that require effective management of outgoing mail approvals.
Irwan Gunawan, Fadilla Maharani Putri, Armansyah Copyright (c) 2024 Irwan Gunawan, Fadilla Maharani Putri, Armansyah https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 https://journal.aira.or.id/index.php/jistr/article/view/719 Wed, 31 Jan 2024 00:00:00 +0000 Low-Cost CCTV for Home Security With Face Detection Base on IoT https://journal.aira.or.id/index.php/jistr/article/view/769
Monitoring is a necessary part of Home surveillance that can be done through the internet network as a security measure. Many CCTV cameras on the market today continue to employ analog and conventional technology, specifically coaxial wire. As a result, extra expenditures for CCTV system wiring are required; besides being more expensive, the installation takes more handling, as the picture data cable and control signal cable cannot be merged. This project aims to develop a security system capable of detecting object movement in real-time utilizing a webcam camera attached to a raspberry pi. The findings of this study enable the development of a low-cost CCTV system that can be monitored remotely via the Internet of Things.
Muhammad Akbar Syahbana Pane, Khairul Saleh, Andi Prayogi, Rahmad Dian, Ratu Mutiara Siregar, Raden Aris Sugianto Copyright (c) 2024 Muhammad Akbar Syahbana Pane, Khairul Saleh, Andi Prayogi, Rahmad Dian, Ratu Mutiara Siregar, Raden Aris Sugianto https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 https://journal.aira.or.id/index.php/jistr/article/view/769 Wed, 31 Jan 2024 00:00:00 +0000 Rethinking Pedagogy in the Digital Age: Analyzing the Effectiveness of E-Learning Strategies in Higher Education https://journal.aira.or.id/index.php/jistr/article/view/772
This paper delves into the multifaceted challenges posed by the intersection of infrastructure, education, and technology integration in the context of enriching the learning experience. Rather than displacing educators, technology is positioned as a valuable tool to augment learning, necessitating a nuanced approach. Universities are confronted with the complexities of E-Learning, prompting the adaptation of course structures to accommodate diverse educational needs. Consequently, educators adjust teaching styles, leading to heightened workloads that demand proactive management. The impact of E-Learning extends beyond individual classrooms, challenging traditional university frameworks and compelling institutions to reconsider physical facilities and lecture-centric methodologies. Anticipated benefits of E-Learning must be balanced with a thorough evaluation of its implications. Despite the widespread adoption of technology, some implementations need to be more actively engaging learners, functioning more as content repositories than dynamic learning environments. This underscores the importance of establishing a robust pedagogical foundation when embracing E-Learning, ensuring that technology aligns with, rather than supersedes, student progress and engagement objectives.
Zohaib Hassan Sain, Risang Baskara, Alma Vorfi Lama Copyright (c) 2024 Zohaib Hassan Sain, Risang Baskara, Alma Vorfi Lama https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 https://journal.aira.or.id/index.php/jistr/article/view/772 Wed, 31 Jan 2024 00:00:00 +0000 The Game-Changing Impact of AI Chatbots on Education ChatGPT and Beyond https://journal.aira.or.id/index.php/jistr/article/view/770
ChatGPT, an AI-driven chatbot, delivers coherent and valuable responses by analysing extensive data sets. This article explores the profound impact of ChatGPT on contemporary education, as discussed by prominent academics, scientists, distinguished researchers, and engineers. The study delves into ChatGPT's capabilities, its application in the education sector, and the identification of potential concerns and challenges. Initial assessments reveal variations in ChatGPT's performance across diverse subjects, including finance, coding, mathematics, and general public queries. While ChatGPT can assist educators by generating instructional content, providing suggestions, serving as an online educator for learners, answering questions and revolutionising education through smartphones and IoT devices, it has shortcomings. These include the risk of generating inaccurate or false information and evading plagiarism detection systems, a critical concern for maintaining originality. The commonly reported "hallucinations" in Generative AI, which applies to ChatGPT, also limit its utility in situations where precision is paramount. A notable deficiency in ChatGPT is the absence of a stochastic measure to facilitate authentic and empathetic communication with users. The article suggests that educational institutions' academic regulations and evaluation practices should be updated if ChatGPT is integrated into the educational toolkit. To effectively navigate the transformative effects of ChatGPT in the learning environment, it is imperative to educate teachers and students about its capabilities and limitations.
Asokan Vasudevan, Alma Vorfi Lama, Zohaib Hassan Sain Copyright (c) 2024 Asokan Vasudevan, Alma Vorfi Lama, Zohaib Hassan Sain https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 https://journal.aira.or.id/index.php/jistr/article/view/770 Wed, 31 Jan 2024 00:00:00 +0000
