Red onion plants are highly valuable crops[1], and their growth and yield are strongly influenced by environmental factors, particularly the optimal soil moisture level. The research method used for developing this system follows the prototype model, which consists of four stages: Requirement Gathering, System and Tool Design, Prototype Development, and Evaluation and Improvement. In the first stage, Requirement Gathering, the objectives for developing the hardware, software, and the overall system are thoroughly identified. The second stage, System and Tool Design, focuses on creating a representation of the software and ensuring the hardware meets the system requirements. The third stage, Prototype Development, provides a concrete understanding of how the prototype will be applied in the IoT system. Finally, the fourth stage, Evaluation and Improvement, involves implementing the system and continuously evaluating its technical, operational, and user interaction aspects. The developed IoT system is integrated with the Blynk application, enabling real-time soil moisture monitoring and acting as a switch to control the pump for fertilization and irrigation. This system has been successfully implemented as a smart, IoT-based solution for automatically monitoring and controlling fertilization in red onion cultivation, enhancing efficiency in managing soil moisture and crop productivity.
