Abstract

Coronary heart disease is one of the leading causes of death worldwide and continues to pose a growing public health burden in Indonesia. The high prevalence of risk factors such as smoking, hypertension, obesity, and low physical activity, along with limited public awareness of early detection and healthy lifestyle practices, highlights the need for educational interventions that enhance knowledge and empower families as agents of behavioral change. This community engagement program aims to improve health literacy, particularly among women, through education on coronary heart disease prevention using the PATUH approach that encourages disciplined healthy habits. The program was implemented in Kampung Kubang Lor, Kemanisan Village, Curug District, Serang City in December 2024 and involved twenty housewives and prospective mothers as participants. The methods used included needs assessment, participatory education on heart disease and prevention, leaflet distribution, health exercise sessions, and blood pressure measurement. The results showed increased enthusiasm and active participation in discussions, along with better understanding of risk factors and prevention strategies. This activity strengthened the role of women as health promoters within their families and communities through the formation of the "Ibu-ibu Cerdas Cegah Coroner" group. The program proved relevant in addressing low health literacy and may serve as a replicable community based intervention model for other areas with similar characteristics. The findings recommend integrating family oriented educational initiatives into health promotion strategies such as in posyandu and healthy community programs to support sustainable prevention of noncommunicable diseases.
