Abstract

This study examines the role of students participating in the Real Work Lecture program at the State Islamic University of North Sumatra in implementing religious moderation in Pasar X Village, Kutalimbaru District, Deli Serdang Regency. The background of this study is based on the need to promote harmony in a pluralistic society characterized by religious diversity. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected through participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation to understand the social processes and dynamics during the program. The results show that students were actively involved in various activities aimed at strengthening national commitment, fostering tolerance, encouraging anti-violence attitudes, and accepting local wisdom, which are key indicators of religious moderation. These activities included teaching, tutoring, community gymnastics, cultural festivals, and social campaigns. The conclusion of this study is that student involvement through this program contributes significantly to strengthening religious moderation and social cohesion in multireligious communities, and demonstrates the potential of participatory community empowerment as a strategy for creating sustainable social harmony.
