Abstract

This study examines the effect of work-life balance on personnel performance and tests perceived organizational support as a moderating variable among personnel of the Mobile Brigade Unit (Brimob), North Sumatra Regional Police. A quantitative explanatory design involved 232 respondents. Work-life balance and perceived organizational support were measured using questionnaire-based psychological scales, while performance data were obtained from official personnel records. Data were analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) with SmartPLS 3.0. Work-life balance was positively associated with perceived organizational support (β = 0.527, t = 10.612, p < 0.001) and performance (β = 0.309, t = 4.154, p < 0.001). Perceived organizational support was also positively associated with performance (β = 0.347, t = 4.389, p < 0.001). The interaction effect was positive and significant (β = 0.117, t = 2.020, p = 0.044), indicating that organizational support strengthens the positive relationship between work-life balance and performance. The findings underscore the importance of workload management, recovery opportunities, supportive leadership, and personnel well-being in high-demand police work.
