Abstract

Digital transformation does not automatically improve the performance of micro, small, and medium enterprises because technology creates value only when business owners possess adequate managerial and digital capabilities. This study examines the effects of human resource competence and entrepreneurial motivation on digital business success and assesses the moderating role of digital literacy. A quantitative survey involved 120 owners or managers of micro, small, and medium enterprises in Makassar, South Sulawesi. Respondents were selected through purposive sampling, and the data were analyzed using partial least squares structural equation modeling. Human resource competence, entrepreneurial motivation, and digital literacy positively affected business success; digital literacy also strengthened both focal relationships, and the model explained 63.7% of the variance in business success. As an applied contribution, the findings are translated into an evidence-to-action framework specifying stakeholder co-design, pilot implementation, process evaluation, and outcome evaluation. These downstream phases are proposed from the survey evidence and are not presented as activities already implemented or evaluated.
