Abstract

The advancement of Internet of Things (IoT) technology has created opportunities to develop home automation systems that are more practical, efficient, and responsive. Most previous studies have mainly focused on automating a single household device, such as a fan or a lamp, which has limited the effectiveness of integrated control. This research aims to design and implement a smart home system capable of controlling both a fan and a room lamp, either automatically or manually, through an internet connection within a unified system. The system is built using a NodeMCU ESP8266 microcontroller connected to a DHT11 temperature sensor and an LDR light sensor, along with two actuators—a fan and a lamp—controlled via a relay module. The system logic automatically turns on the fan when the room temperature reaches ≥ 30°C and switches on the lamp when the light intensity is ≤ 500 lux. In addition, users can perform manual control and receive real-time notifications through the Blynk application. The test results show that the system operates stably, in accordance with the designed logic, and is able to improve both energy efficiency and user convenience. This research provides practical contributions to the application of IoT in households while also enhancing the integrated control approach based on temperature and light sensors
