Author Guidelines

Authors are required to prepare their manuscripts in accordance with the journal's submission requirements and official manuscript template. All submissions must be original, scientifically sound, written in clear academic English, and relevant to the journal's aims and scope.

1. Manuscript Types

JISTR considers the following types of manuscripts:

Original Research Articles: Manuscripts presenting original research findings, methodologies, experiments, models, applications, or technological developments that make a significant contribution to information systems, information technology, computer science, or related disciplines.

Systematic Literature Reviews: Manuscripts presenting a structured and reproducible synthesis of existing scientific literature. Reviews should describe clear research questions, literature search strategies, selection criteria, methods of analysis, and meaningful findings or research implications.

2. Authorship Criteria

Authorship should be limited to individuals who have made substantial scholarly contributions to the research and manuscript. All listed authors must meet the following criteria:

  1. Make substantial contributions to the conception, design, data acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of the research.
  2. Participate in drafting the manuscript or critically revising its intellectual content.
  3. Approve the final version of the manuscript submitted for publication.
  4. Accept responsibility for the integrity and accuracy of their scholarly contributions.

Individuals who contribute to the research but do not qualify for authorship should be acknowledged appropriately. All authors must agree on the authorship order and designate a corresponding author responsible for communication with the journal.

Any proposed addition, removal, or rearrangement of authors after submission must be justified and approved by all affected authors and the editorial team.

3. Originality and Submission Requirements

Submitted manuscripts must represent original scholarly work and must not be simultaneously submitted to or under consideration by another journal. Previously published journal articles are not eligible for duplicate publication.

An extended version of a conference paper may be considered only when it contains substantial new scholarly contributions, properly cites the original publication, and clearly discloses the relationship between the two versions. The editorial team determines whether the extension is sufficiently original.

Authors are responsible for obtaining the necessary permissions to reproduce copyrighted materials and for disclosing relevant funding sources, acknowledgements, and potential conflicts of interest.

4. Manuscript Preparation

Manuscripts must be written in English and prepared using the official JISTR manuscript template. The manuscript should be submitted in Microsoft Word format (.doc or .docx).

Authors must follow the typography, page layout, margins, heading styles, tables, figures, and reference formatting specified in the official template.

The standard manuscript length is 10 pages, with an expected maximum of 15 pages. Authors should consult the journal's publication fee policy for any applicable financial conditions.

Official Manuscript Template: Authors must prepare their manuscripts using the official JISTR template available through the following link.

5. Manuscript Structure

Original research articles should generally contain the following sections:

  1. Title: A concise and informative description of the research.
  2. Abstract: A self-contained summary of 100-200 words describing the research problem, methodology, principal findings, and conclusions.
  3. Keywords: Three to six keywords representing the main research topics.
  4. Introduction: Research background, problem statement, related studies, research gap, objectives, and contributions.
  5. Research Method: Research design, datasets, procedures, algorithms, experimental settings, and evaluation methods, as applicable.
  6. Results and Discussion: Presentation, analysis, and interpretation of findings in relation to the research objectives and relevant literature.
  7. Conclusion: Main findings, contributions, limitations, and possible directions for further research.
  8. Acknowledgements: Recognition of relevant contributions and research support, where applicable.
  9. References: Complete bibliographic information formatted according to IEEE citation style.

Systematic literature reviews may use a structure appropriate to their review methodology, including literature search procedures, inclusion and exclusion criteria, study selection, quality assessment, synthesis of findings, and research implications.

6. References and Citations

All references must follow the IEEE citation and reference style. Authors should use relevant, reliable, and up-to-date scientific literature to support their research arguments.

Manuscripts should generally include at least 20 references, preferably emphasizing publications from the preceding five years. At least 80% of references should be drawn from scholarly journal articles, where appropriate to the research topic and methodology.

Reference management software such as Mendeley, Zotero, or EndNote is recommended to maintain citation consistency and bibliographic accuracy.

7. Tables, Figures, and Equations

Tables and figures must be clearly presented, sequentially numbered, appropriately captioned, and cited in the manuscript. Images should have sufficient resolution for publication.

Equations, mathematical symbols, and scientific notation must be accurate and consistently formatted. Authors are responsible for ensuring that all reproduced materials have the necessary permissions and acknowledgements.

8. Manuscript Submission

Manuscripts must be submitted electronically through the JISTR Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform. Submissions sent by email are not accepted.

The corresponding author must provide complete and accurate manuscript metadata, including the article title, abstract, keywords, author names, affiliations, and contact information.

To support double-blind peer review, authors must ensure that the manuscript file prepared for anonymous review does not disclose author identities or identifying information. Author details must be supplied separately through the submission metadata or designated files, as required by the submission system.

Authors must also provide any declarations or supporting documents required by the journal's publication ethics policy.

9. Use of AI-Assisted Technologies

Authors may use artificial intelligence (AI) and AI-assisted technologies to support manuscript preparation and legitimate research activities, provided that their use complies with the journal's ethical requirements.

Authors must disclose the use of AI-assisted tools in manuscript preparation or research activities, identifying the tools used and their specific purposes. Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, validity, and integrity of all submitted content. AI systems cannot be listed as authors or co-authors.

Mandatory AI Use Declaration: Every submitted manuscript must include an AI Use Declaration, regardless of whether AI-assisted technologies were used. Authors must disclose the AI tools used and their specific purposes or explicitly declare that no AI-assisted technologies requiring disclosure under the journal's AI Use Policy were used. All declarations must comply with the journal's AI Use Policy.

Detailed requirements concerning acceptable AI use, disclosure, authorship, and research integrity are provided in the AI Use Policy.

10. Submission Checklist

Before submitting a manuscript, authors should confirm that:

  • The manuscript is original and within the journal's scope.
  • The manuscript is not under consideration elsewhere.
  • All authors have approved the submission.
  • The official manuscript template has been followed.
  • The abstract, keywords, tables, figures, and references are complete.
